Brecon Beacons National Park

The area includes Fforest Fawr UNESCO Global Geopark and is recognised as an International Dark Sky Reserve.

From the depths of its limestone caves to the grandeur of Pen y Fan and Cribyn, its highest peaks, there’s plenty to explore in this gem of a national park. By day, there are moorlands, trails and towns to discover, while by night, you can feast your eyes on the stars.

Rolling green landscapes? Waterfalls? Characterful towns? Epic mountains? They’re all here and more.

"The intimate vibe was different from the larger, annual event in the Gower, but still the same positive energy throughout. Thanks so much for such a great weekend, and hope to see you on the trails again soon."

You'll Be Staying Here

Sleeping Giant Campsite

Sleeping Giant Campsite

Love Trails On Tour in the Brecon Beacons is located in the valley beneath one of the most famous ridge-lines in Wales. Just next to the village of Pen-y-cae, the Sleeping Giant Campsite & Bunkhouse has stunning views of Welsh countryside. The campsite has all the basic facilities you need, and if you opt for sleeping in the bunkhouse, you'll be in the comfort of a 17th century building complete with bunk beds, lounge, and a full kitchen.

FAQs

Love Trails On Tour will be held in the campsite at Sleeping Giant Bunkhouse Rhongyr Isaf Centre, Pen-y-cae SA9 1GB

Parking is available close to the campsite and details will be available in Spring 2021.

You'll need to bring enough food for breakfast and lunches for the weekend, or you can make a trip to the local SPAR (about 1 mile away), or one of the quaint local pubs close by. In typical Love Trails On Tour format, we will be organising for a local food pop up on Saturday night, and details of this will be available early 2021.

If the weekend is cancelled by us for any reason (including but not limited to Covid--19, ie government imposed restrictions that mean the event can't legally go ahead), you will have the option to receive a full cash refund.

This is not an exhaustive kit list, but we would recommend bringing the following with you on the weekend;
- Camping gear including tent, roll matt and sleeping bag
- Towel & washkit
- Small camping stove if you wish to make your own breakfast / dinners
- Trail running shoes
- A running pack / rucksack / race vest
- Full waterproofs (you never know!)
- Yoga matt / towel
- Map of the local area and/or navigation device

By Car

Getting to the campsite is easiest to get to by car. Type 'Sleeping Giant Bunkhouse' into Google maps and it'll take you straight there.

By Train

If you're coming by train, the closest stations are either Abergavenny or Swansea. From here, you can call the local taxi

Taxi

Get a pre-booked taxi from the station with local taxi service SA9 Cabs on 07450606978.

You can pitch up at the campsite any time from 3pm on Friday 13th August. But you can also join on the Saturday if that is easier.

Yes! However your dog will need to remain on it's lead in the campsite at all times.

Absolutely! We're a super friendly bunch of runners and always want to welcome people coming on their own. Due to the Government rules and restrictions, we aren't organising any official 'Guided Trail Runs' like you would usually see at Love Trails, but there will always be someone from the Love Trails team around and we are more than happy to help with routes and trail running. I will also be doing a map reading 'Drop In' on Saturday morning for any questions or queries about the routes.

Please email us hello@lovetrails.com and we'll be happy to help
